چکیده

In this paper we investigate the spectrum, out of band radiation (OBR) and the use of extended guard interval (EGI) to reduce the out of band radiation of an OFDM signal when passing through different nonlinear devices. Spectra of the OFDM signal with different EGI lengths after passing through nonlinear devices are obtained through computer simulations. Mathematical expressions for the power spectral density of a conventional OFDM signal and an OFDM signal with different EGI lengths are also presented. Theoretical and simulated results are compared. Although the EGI reduces the OBR, this reduction is not significant in some cases. The effect of EGI on the OBR of an OFDM signal differs for different nonlinear devices. The EGI is also not capable of reducing the OBR caused by excessive clipping of the OFDM signal. Finally, it is also found that the length of the EGI does not have a considerable effect on the amount of OBR reduced when passing through a nonlinear device.

Spectral Precoding Technique and Method For Multiuser Using OFDM In Cognitive Radio Systems

Cognitive radios are aware of their surroundings and bandwidth availability and are able to dynamically tune the spectrum usage based on location, nearby radios, time of day and other factors. This provides for a more efficient use of the spectrum as well as reducing power consumption, and enabling high priority communications to take precedence if needed. OFDM is a method of digital modulation...

Extension of N-Continuous OFDM Precoder Matrix for Improving Error Rate

The modulation technique of N -continuous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has lower sidelobes than those of the original OFDM as a result of the continuous connection with higher-order derivatives between the OFDM symbols. Compared with the other sidelobe suppression schemes, for example, cancellation carrier insertion, and windowing, N continuous OFDM does not require an exte...

Experimental demonstration of a cost-effective bit rate variable IM/DD optical OFDM with reduced guard band.

We experimentally demonstrate an intensity modulated and direct detection optical OFDM with variable bit rate from 5 Gb/s to 9 Gb/s using BPSK format. A fast processing based on the Hartley transform is performed with low complexity DSP, achieving the same performance as 4QAM FFT-based processing. Using the same bandwidth occupancy as required for 5 Gb/s, the bit rate can be increased up to 80%...

Active Constellation Extension for Increasing the Capacity of Clipped OFDM

The paper studies the method active constellation extension (ACE) for increasing the channel capacity of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) with a nonlinear power amplifier at the transmitter. It turns out that ACE is able to optimize the capacity but at the expense of an increased out-of-band radiation. In order to solve this issue, ACE is combined with the strategy clipping and...

Automatic Detection of the Guard Interval Length in OFDM System

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) has been increasingly used in wireless broadband communication systems. Guard interval (GI) is used in OFDM system to reduce inter-symbol interference (ISI). As selection of the length of guard interval depends on the channel condition, the length of guard interval will change dynamically. Thus there must be a way to synchronize this parameter b...
